Handling
Handling
does a fourth gen z handle a LOT better than a 3rd gen RS? i imagine better but by a lot? anyone had their car on a skidpad or know the numbers? what kinda mods do yall do first regarding handling
For me, here's what i did (in order)
-Kumho Z-Rated tires
-BMR tubular subframe connectors
-BMR chromoly shock tower brace
-BMR front/rear sway bars w/ poly bushings
Handling GREATLY improved over stock with these mods, It was like night and day.
I think the reason some people dont achieve the same 1/4 mile goals that they'd hoped for is because a lot of people don't bother modding much of their suspension that handles torque/traction (atleast people I talk to) - anyway....
next? well, here's what i plan....
-spohn torque arm and DS loop
-BMR or spohn Lower Control Arms
-BMR or Spohn Panhard rod
-BMR tubular K-member with upper and lower A-Arms (whenever I have to yank the motor out of there)
Oh, and why choose BMR and/or Spohn? Price to Performance.... Hotchkis and Global West stuff just costs too much more ... 90% of the performance for ~70% of the price....
Eventually I may put a Ford 9" Rear in there if i can find one for the right price to keep things cheap, but I dont see that happening any time soon (its heavier, and that car is still a tad nose-heavy, so a heavier rear might help traction), plus I lose ABS with the 9" so we'll just have to see...
Oh, and I *think* 4th gens do between .83 and .88 on the skidpad (from 93-2002)
hope this helps
