Yes it will be ALOT louder. I have headers but I imagine with manifolds it would still sound pretty good.

LOL, that's what I said right after I had mine installed in the I-pipe right before the axle. But a month and a half later, it honestly seems so much quieter to me now (idle, acceleration, WOT, etc.). I've probably just got used to it...Or am starting to go deaf...Hmmm...

But seriously though, my friend used to have a cutout on his stock internal '95 Trans Am and that thing sounded frickin' MEAN with his Hooker shorties and offroad pipe...NO rasp or popping at all. Even though mine still sounds really good to me with the cat, I'm probably going to ditch it soon to make it a little louder...

Two things are for certain though...You can't beat additional power and fun factor at such a cheap price!

well i have hooker stainles LTs, hooker ORYP, hooker catback(pretty sure single chamber) well i have an electric 3inch laying around, just need to buy the actual cutout($35, cheap) think if i put it on right after the y-pipe... itll be noticeable bit louder... even though its all 3inch mendral bent, and single chamber muffler?

im prob gonna do it anyway, but just asking before hand of no one is sure.. il just post results

Meh, I'm not a big fan of cutouts. Possibly because I rode with a buddy of mine from Nashville to Atlanta with the cutout open. It rattled everything in the car and just basically sounded like ***. It was so annoying that I wanted to end myself when we got to the destination I much prefer the deep sound of a good aftermarket exhaust as opposed to a cutout.

that's why I got the e-cutout. Around town and at the track it is the best thing since sliced bread but out on the open road, i have it closed. You can get an e-cutout for $115 or 2 of them for $200. I have the phone number if anybody wants it.

I picked up 5rwhp and 7rwtq with my cutout open vs through stock exhaust and a flowmaster. This on a stock motor with 5lbs of boost.

The cutout doesn't sound good below 3500rpm with a gutted cat.

True, they are not for everyone...But that's the thing though, my open cutout is actually deeper (noticeably deeper) than the previous Hooker & GMMG cat-back systems I already had on the car (same with any Borla or Loudmouth I've ever head). And I've heard it revved up and going down the street hard from the outside and nothing sounds deeper (has more bass). It's just much more raw sounding and not as refined...

I put my cutout at the rear of the car right before the pipe bends over the rear axle, It has a little vibration but barely anything noticeable or annoying. I guess this spot isn't as loud as placing it farther up but it seems the best of both worlds.

Any idea what brand this would be?
Is there a website I can view the item at?

If not, would you be so kind as to shoot me the phone number?
Thanks!

I feel like I'm the only guy in here with dual cut outs...

Oh well.... I just wonder what they sound like open... I'm to lazy to uncap them.

I still have the memories of the fun of Open Long Tubes... so I'll wait another few months.

I've only capped mine a handfull of times since 1999. Old cranky people think I'm driving around at WOT all the time though.

Re: Best $29.00 Ever Spent

Damn.. I just spent 155 in the for sale forums... I hope mine is at least gonna be better quality or something..

I should note that this is for an ecutout.. after looking at my post, and the title of the thread, it started to look like I meant I spent 155 for what the original poster spent 29 for, heh

I just installed headers and am planning on getting another dyno this weekend. I'll see if I get the 8-10rwhp gain now that i was expecting.
I saw 10 rwhp gain and I run stock manifolds, I ran on the dyno if it closed and then opened. (the numbers below are with it open)

I close the cutout for highway trips.

Re: Best $29.00 Ever Spent

My question that no one can seem to answer. Will a closed cutout hurt performance at all over a straight pipe in its place? Because if that hurts performance and you compare closed to open, it is very misleading. Anyone have dyno numbers to show before and after the installation?
