Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

The only good thing I have seen come from BBK is how greatly their products blow. I had a friend who had BBK headers, the coating burnt off a few weeks after he had them installed. Another friend bought the 58mm TB. Never worked properly, ended up junking it and getting a quality Holly peice.

Have fun screwing around with crappy headers for about a year until you realize your mistake, try to sell them on here for $50 just to get them out of your garage and buy some good AS&M/JetHot/or Hooker headers. I will look forward to your future threads "My BBKs suck" "I gained nothing in the 1/4 from my sweet BBKs" and finally "Selling BBK's please please buy them"

Enjoy

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

Ok, so I finally got my bbk shortys. Im a bit confused. I know I ordered the ceramic coated for my 94. It says on the installation paper that its for a 95-97.

Is that a mistake? Or does it fit 94-97s?

I got the same paperwork with mine, disregard. The hardest part of my installation was getting the AIR fittings off of the old manifolds without mangling them.Very good fit, coating is still intact after almost a year of operation and the Y pipe that came with them had mandrel bent tubing,no kinks.

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

I've had my BBKs for almost a year and they still look new and I could tell a difference in the pickup so no gripes from me about them so far. I didn't install them but the guy who did said he was impressed with how it all fit together, easier than others he did. I think you'll like them lovemyblackz28
surely better than stock manifolds.

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

in some situations i think you have to use the stock Y pipe. For the 96-97 with dual cats you do not get a Y pipe with the headers. What did you guys do for a Y pipe with the 96-97 dual cats? (don't just tell me you removed the cats)

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

Well we got one header on friday morning. Took bout 3 hours- thats with removing anything that was in the way and putting in the new header. My friend owns a shop, we didnt have enough time to finish so We going to finish it up now. Ill try and get some pics for you guys.

My friend was very suprised how easy it was to put in. The thing that was the most time consuming was unscrewing these 2 bolts from the old headers. Was sort of stripped and it just took forever!

Ok im on my way to finish it up now. Looking forward I shall keep you people updated!

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

toby360, click on link in my sig to see close up shots of BBK headers.I have had mine on for about two years and although I did not need the Y pipe(true duals) it did look larger than stock. I am putting down some good numbers and probably could do better with long tubes but I do love the ground clearance and perfect fit.Just my two cents.

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

FINAL RESULT

Its all done and I must say I LIKE IT! Not sure why alot of people were complaining that the fit wasnt right and all the stuff. The fit was perfect! Everything went on without a problem (except for my dipstick, had to move it out of the way, when I pulled on the dipstick, the handle came right off and the stick didnt come with it! it was kinda funny- now how do I fix that?).

It was a really good fit. Wires didnt get in the way. It was all good. I just noticed one thing. You hear a slight ticking sound in the header. That normal?

Car is a bit louder now, not too crazy and the car just feels like it wants to gooooooo! tires spin way to easily now

Thanx for all the inout on this matter. Its nice to add another mod to my sig...hmmm now whats next...........

Re: BBK Shorty Headers?

Just did a y-pipe for a set of BBK's on a '96 this weekend. The Y-pipe was from Random Tech with cats, but was made for the SLP's. It was a VERY nice piece and would have bolted up easily to the SLP's, wish the car would have had those on them. Needless to say though, it was a royal pain in the ***!! There isn't much out there in the way of Y-pipes for these headers. The job ended up turning out very well, but what a pain it was!!

Would reccomend SLP shorties any day over BBK's
