Battery in the trunk, starter question

I moved my battery to the spare tire well, using an optima red top, summit battery box and install kit and a push off shut of switch. I was using this guide I found as a reference. I have everything done and hooked up and went to start it and it's not starting, just getting that dead battery clacking sound. I ran the positive wire from the battery in the back directly to the starter, I went to the same lug on the starter that the other starter wire was on. Is that the correct way to hook to the starter? Or am I supposed to use the other lug on the starter? Also I didnt run a new wire from the starter to the distribution block, I just used the one that was there.

I bolted the ground wire from the battery right to the rear subframe. Used a hole it the subframe next to the spare tire well and ground the paint off one side around the hole, used a piece of all thread cut down, a nut on each end and two lock washers and bolted it very tightly to the frame. Any ideas?
