Battery causing problem?

Hey all,

I am working with a 93 Z28 that seems to have a dead battery. If i jump the car it starts right up. If i let it sit for more than a day the battery dies. The seller (im buying it.. its mine back off! lol) says that he took the same battery and put it in another car and it drove just fine. He also says that someone stole the stereo which may be causing the problem

I figured i'd check:
Alternator
Battery
Battery cables
Interior wiring to see if anything is drawing power
Fuse box ... to see if someone wired stereo power directly

Any other ideas?

Your freaking battery is probably a POS. Get a good new one and be trouble free----until something else goes TsU. JMHO

The car as a optima battery in it... I had the idea of just placing a new battery in it and seeing how it reacts. The guy mentioned that the heater hose blew while on the freeway and he's had this problem since.. so i was sort of suspecting corroded cables.

I hope you are getting one hell of a deal on this car----I wonder what else he might just "mention".

In re the optima battery----they are certainly good batteries, however if they not fully charged (with a charger) they will go dead just like any other battery that is not used frequently. JMHO

Actually the car is great condition. Perfect interior and the motor looks complete stock and clean. Guy wants 1500 for it which i think is a screamin deal.

I suspect the problem to be simple, but until i work on it myself its hard to say what might be wrong. I wanted to hear back from you all to see what im up against.

Sounds like a good deal----for the price in good condition, the motor is not as big a deal as the condition of the platform. For a few grand, you could slap a new hi-perf. power plant in there and be good to go.JMHO

Give'm $1100---if he will sell it for 1500, he will take 1100.00. Don't let him scare ya. The masses aren't exactly beating down the door for a 93 camaro with a "backyard" paint job.

If it had to be painted, it might have been in a fender bender or too also, so either give'em 1100 or look on the bulletin board of your local laundry mat and find another hot deal. JMHO

It's not called taking advantage----its called negotiating. For that matter it might be him that winds up with some bad ju ju.

Anyway---good luck---sounds like a plan.
