Bad throttle response

What could cause a delayed throttle response. I press the gas and about half a second later it reacts.

That could be any number of things, I'd start with checking for a vacuum leak or metered air leak, also check your timing and/or knock retard(timmah!) and the basics like your MAF, O2 sensor, and TPS. You can check most of that with a cheap data cable and a laptop, but my money would be on a vacuum leak or MAF/metered air issue without knowing more about the problem..

Any pinging sounds or anything coming from the motor, or just a lack of throttle response?

Well its running rich, smells like gas in exhaust. And sometimes a misfire.

How are your plugs, wires, and coil? Could just be a simple spark issue, any SES codes? Basically either a sensor is causing the computer to put too much fuel in the motor or there isn't enough spark to burn it all.

hmmm, like sometimes when I'm driving I can feel a big misfire to where my car's rpms drop drastically and then pick back up. if my rpms are low enough when it happens, my car shuts off.

Could be as simple as a tear in the rubber intake elbow, or the elbow not fully over the bottom of the throttle body.

Grab some carb cleaner and trying spraying around your vacuum lines while it's idling, it'll clean your engine while it's helping you find any vacuum leaks..

One of your vacuum hoses had to of come loose or cracked, or like my car when I got it some idiot had put the intake tube back on and folded the bottom of the oval throttle body side under itself and the heat almost immediately cracked and tore the rubber, it was clamped with a fold in it.. =(

On the plus side a junk yard had a 94 Caprice elbow for $10, it's my 1/2LE elbow hehe

it could be the throttle cable. I had to replace mine, it acted similar to what you are saying.

Clean the MAF with the spray cleaner, clean the TB, check the rubber elbow. Do all the small visual things.

i'm going outside to check some things, but i don't think it anything to do with elbow. one time i didn't put it on all the way and it made like a loud whistle. but it's on all the way now.
