Bad plug wire?

I've been noticing a miss from time to time. Finally scanned the car and #4 was showing a high misfire count. I could hear the snap of a misfire also. Pulled the old wire off, and sure enough, it was burned. Put a new wire on. Still occasional miss. Pulled the new wire off, not burned. Put it back on, hear the snapping sound. Scan tool says #4 is misfiring. Is it possible the new wire is bad?

Snapped In?

It is easy to install a plug wire boot on the plug without getting the plug end correctly seated in the wire terminal in side the boot. Make sure that it firmly snaps into the terminal.

probably loose wire but if its on tight check the porcilin (bad spelling) part of the plug for cracks or just go ahead and replace it

Well, the scan tool lied. Turns out it's not #4. When it got dark, I fired it up and could see wire #8 was the one that was arcing. It wasn't arcing before, so I guess I must have moved it when changing the #4 wire. Of course it may not have produced enough misfires for the tool to pick up, as I only ran it a couple of minutes.
