Could some of you who have correctly diagnosed a bad opti tell me what symptoms it has. I have had burnt wires before, but my misfirings now are more erratic now. I had first thought it was a bad tank of gas, but a couple of tanks later I'm sure that it isn't.

I also inspected around the engine at night and notice small (faint, but definitely there) sparks coming from in front of the wire boot that plugs into the opti. Has anyone seen this before?

 

I diagnosed my friends opti after I saw a dyno graph and it was all over the place, first thing I said was bad ignition...however there were no audible signs at the time...about 2 months later it picked up a high rpm miss that steadily got worse until the car was almost undrivable with moderate acceleration.

 

man that sounds just like my car started out at a high rpm miss now i can barely drive it when it gets warmed up How much does it cost for a shop to do the opti??

 

I don't know my friend, myself and his dad did it in his garage, it was a PITA.

 

It's no 5 minute job. It could easily cost you $300 in labor.

 

Someone on here posted that they paid 600 to have it done.
