Bad miss, stumble, surging

So I put in a new opti, a week later I'm driving on the highway bam I kinda backfire midshift. Then nothing after that so I think nothing of it, that night I come out of work and the car won't start.

Damn must have accidently got the opti wet when I was messing with the water pump I did leak some water. So I pull the opti throw a new one on, car fires up no problems runs great so I'm happy. About 20 minutes later I go inside a resturante come out, and start the car check engine. So I check to see if I left a bleeder valve or something stupid like that open, nope. Well I don't know, so I left it at my friends house. Next day I come outside to turn it on, and it wouldn't turn on.

****ing great! So I replace the ignition coil and it fires right up no problem. Guess what? I turn the engine off, and then turn it right back on. SAME PROBLEM.

My friend is convinced its not the coil wire, he won't even let me use his wire that is sitting in a box. So I am going to Autozone to have them pull the code with some sort of paper clip method.

What else could it be? It just seems unlikely that the plugs/wires would convinently all go bad at once.

The car sometimes has no problems, and then sometimes the rpm drops and it loses power for a split second, and then sometimes I'm sitting at lights and it surges and wants to launch me into the person infront of me.

I am really at a loss here, I was saving for an LT4 shortblock and now this bull**** starts happening.

Re: Bad miss, stumble, surging

Update:

I checked the IAT and its good. Also I tightened my intake filter/maf/intake elbow at throttle body down very tight. I also pushed all the plugs into the opti to make sure they were secure they were.

Any other suggestions? BTW this surging and what not does not happen all the time. It only happens sometimes. Like today on my way home from work it didn't happen at all, I drove to the gas station no problem, took my brother to a friends house no problems. Driving hard no problems, driving soft no problems. I don't see consistancy.

When it does happen its not just a little its a lot, and it makes me want to drive the car off a cliff.

Whats next?
