bad MAP and Temp. readings
bad MAP and Temp. readings
After I installed my speed pro, i'm getting very unusual readings from the MAP sensor and the Temp sensor. MAP is reading 289 kPa and the temp is showing -6.1 *F.
I know the MAP should have 5 volts, a ground, and a the wire to the computer. I just checked and i have 13-14 volts... where I should have 5. So, I pull the computer, check my connections and verify that I did it just as the directions from Fast Track say to. So, what is giving me this serious voltage at the MAP???
ideas?

The +5V should be provided by the FAST. Should have a high accuracy voltage regulator to supply the +5V to all the sensors. Sounds like you wired one side of the sensor to the car's +12V supply.
Fred,
As spec'd by the Fast Track Performance directions, I spliced "the dark blue wire tagged TPS SIGNAL from the felpro PCM connector cavity B-01 into the Dark Blue wire at GM PCM connector C, cavity 22"
then, I "spliced the Light Green wire tagged MAP SIGNAL from the FELPRO PCM connector cavity A-01 into the Light Green wire at GM PCM connector C, cavity 23"
Also, when I say "spliced" I mean, shaved the insulation back from the existing wire and soldered in the new wire, making a 3-way connection.

Fred and others:
I went back and verified my connections. They are all as spec'd by Fast Track so i've obviously got other issues. Something tells me I've got a power/ground connection at the same place.
How about this:
the car ran fine (well, a little rough but not bad) before I put the Fast Track Harness and Speed Pro in. Meaning, if I had this crazy voltage at the sensor with my stock 1-bar MAP, it shouldn't have ran, right? So, when I put this harness and new 3-bar sensor in, what's going wrong here?
Please shout out ideas... I'm completely out of my element now. I'm not a wiring genious.
