Bad MAF

I have been fighting a high RPM misfire/detonation for a while now and think I have found the problem. I unplugged the MAF, and it doesnt misfire in speed densidty mode. So does this just mean the MAF is bad, or that maybe something else is wrong? Should I buy an after market MAF or a Stocker?

I first encountered the problem when I installed my Delteq after my Opti went out.

Ill probably borrow a buddys MAF to test and see if that is the problem.

Only motor mods are: U/D Pulleys, Delteq, CAI

Thanks for the help.

Re: Bad MAF

Is it possible you have some of the Delteq high voltage wiring running in parallel with the MAF sensor wiring?

Have you checked for codes?

Add a "signature" with basic info about the car.... like year.

Re: Bad MAF

I have the cable and the pcmcomm software. I dont have the full version so I cant record anything. But I Was getting knock counts in the 4k+ and it was retarding my knock as much as 7-11deg. My spark advance was also 40deg while driving around town but would drop to 20deg at WOT.

What program could i use thats free to read my codes?

I wouldnt imagine so. As you probably know, Delteq give you a wiring harness. So Its setup just as they intended.

Re: Bad MAF

You should be able to read your PCM with the free downloads from TTS DataMaster or FreeScan/Andy Whittaker.
