Bad Fuel Pump? Schrader Valve?
Bad Fuel Pump? Schrader Valve?
I read on another post that to test the fuel pump
turn key to on but car not running
stick pin in Schrader valve
should it be 41-45 lbs of pressure with car not running?
I tried it right now at 3:30 a.m. outside(my neighbors probably think I'm crazy)
I didn't hear pump turn on??
Gas just barely bubbles out.
Is it bad fuel pump?? if so what's the damage?$$

I didn't notice you saying you have a problem. When the car is idling, you should have low to mid 40's PSI like you said. Pressure should hold when you shut off the car. You need to get a gage (one with a hose) to check the pressure. Also you want to check the pressure when you disconnect the vac line to the regulator and plug it. The pressure should jump up. Right now my regulator is bad and won't change when disconnected.
Fuel pumps can be expensive if you don't do it yourself. DO NOT allow the use of cheap auto store substitutes like advance or autozone. If your not putting in a HP pump than use the OEM part. If the install is done the original way, the muffler, the differential and then the gas tank come out to get to it. Done the cheap way, you cut a hole in the floor of the trunk area (under the carpet) to access the tank from there. The long way I'd guess $500 to $800 in labor only.
check out the filter first and if you have a pressure problem check the relay under the dead pedal before you start tearing it apart.
good luck
