Backfire from intake

Every now and then my car will backfire from the engine not the exhaust. What could be causing this? What are the remedies? It mainly does it if I am just revving it a little like backing up or pulling forward slowly. Thanks

Your signature implies your car is mostly stock, therefore I'd suggest a tune-up (plugs, wires). How does your car run other than the occasional backfire?

Actually the car has brand new plugs and wires less than 500 miles ago. Also a new opti and water pump at the same time. Any other ideas?
