I have the Pro 5.0 and love it.

There was also a poll put up here a few months ago between those two shifters. Last I saw, Pro 5.0 was winning 16-2.

I have a Ripper in my '96, I'm pretty happy with it. It was a huge improvement over the stock, nice and precise, although I've never felt the Pro 5.0 before. However, I wasn't entirely impressed with the "shorter throw" of the B&M. It did seem shorter, but I wanted something even shorter. Maybe it's because I'm comparing it to the short shifts in other cars like my friends Impreza...etc. But are there any real short shifters for our cars out there that aren't a POS?? Something nice and short but precise like the import cars have. If the Pro 5.0 is really that much nicer...i might just sell my ripper and get that

sh!tter!! SLP shifter SUCKS!!!
May I ask why you think it sucks? Ive had the B&M Ripper, and switched to the SLP with Lou's short stick. The Ripper was nice...much better than stock, but the SLP has MUCH shorter throws...and a great solid feel, especially with the short stick IMO. Ive never tried the Pro 5.0, so I cannot comment on it.

I have had a B & M and also a Kirban shifter. Out of the two I liked the Kirban the best (felt more accurate). I have never driven a car with a Pro 5.0, but you might want to check that one out also.

I also have lou's short stick and I still hate the slp crap shifter because for some reason it hits the plate between 2nd and 3rd gear (and before the puns come flying my way, YES I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE, it's not operator error). I just don't like knowing that I may miss the shift between 2nd and 3rd during an important race or pull. 5.0 is in my sights for a replacement.

Thats unfortunate...Ive never had a problem with the SLP. However...I used to miss 3rd all the time with the B&M and it would even pop out of gear on occasion.

I have a SLP shifter and It does pretty good. I have missed the 2-3 shift on occasion. I have a PRO 5.0 on it's way. I'm hoping for an even better improvement.

I love my Pro 5.0! It's real solid and it shifts perfect every time. The stick has 2" of threads so you can cut it down. I cut off 1" and put the stock leather ball back on. Here's a pic with the linelock.. There's more at the link in my sig!
