B Body PCM for 93 Camaro LT1!

hi guys,

i have a bunch of B-body PCMs that i've acquired over the last couple years -- can I use these with my new (well, 93) Camaro LT1? I know I'll have to change for the cam & heads, but is there anything else that has to be changed?

I have tuner cats, and a 94 PCM from a B-body. What will i have to change to get this to work with the Camaro engine? Will i have to get a new MAF, or will my B-body MAF be okay?

the pcm should work as long as you re-do the harness for the MAF....or put a SD tune into that pcm, just make sure the harness is re-pinned to work then you don't need to worry about the MAF

I'm confused -- repin what connector? The extension cable from the harness that connects to the MAF?

The 93 LT1 uses a different ECM, controlling only the engine. The 94 and up F-Body, B-Body and Y-Body's use a PCM - controls the engine and the transmission, both auto or manual. The 93 ECM has 3 quad driver modules, that handle high amp loads, like solenoids. 94+ PCM does not use the quad drivers. Add to that the fact that the wiring harness will not match up, your 93 ECM is set up for speed-density, batch fire injection, and the 94+ PCM's are MAF, full sequential injection. Just as an example, you have one wire to fire four injectors at a time, another wire for the other four injectors. The sequential PCM's will have a single wire for each injector.

Oh i don't want to use the 93 harness or ECM -- What i want to use is the existing 1996 Impala SS harness which is already integrated into my project car, and use the 94/95 PCM (Impala) with my new F-body stuff (aluminium heads, different cam, single knock sensor, etc.)

The MAF question: I've read that B-body MAF sensors are different from Fbody ones. I don't know if it really matters if i don't use an Fbody one, but thats why i'm asking ;-)

Doesn't matter which MAF sensor you use, but the program needs to reflect the correct MAF calibration - frequency vs. grams/sec.

If you are using a B-Body harness (which would have been important info to include up front, to save people time trying to help you) it would make no sense at all to use the 93 ECM. You are going to have body connector issues, but apparently you have already addressed that, if you already have the B-Body harness in the car.

Eeek, sorry. I didn't mean to confuse anyone. Should have mentioned it at the top. Apologies!

The b-body harness is integrated into the cab via the C204 connector on the Harness in conjunction with the C205 connector. I was looking at different wiring diagrams online that reflect the F-bodies and i noticed alot of the pinouts were in different places from the B-bodies.

On the monodax forum I found a stock 95 Fbody tune (m6, which i assume is the manual transmission). If i use this with TunerCats, i will effectively turn my PCM into an Fbody, correct?

The only other problem i can think of are my knock sensors -- i know the Fbodies only require one, but the B-bodies have two, and I think the wiring is slightly different from the harness.

Will this be a problem?
