Average cost of a stroker bottom end or 355?
Average cost of a stroker bottom end or 355?
Basically i am wanting to know what the average cost of a 355 bottom end using the stock block vs. a 383 stroker using the stock block. Im talking about the parts to do it and then droping a block off at the macine shop and have it installed as well.
Dude, I just did mine. The cost of the parts and the machine work is a lil more than that of the 355. The thing that will kill you is all the little stuff....reprogramming....TB.. Injectors... tranny build. All my engine work on the block with parts came out to 2800. I have a forged bottom end Eagle rods, crank and SRP pistons.
I did the assembly and installation myself. If your gonna have them assemble and put it in, expect to spend some bucks. If you aint got a large budget just stick with the 355.

how much hp are you looking for? the 383 wont make much more except for torqu. a cheap 355 that will hold up to 450rwhp would be cost of 355 pistons. reuse the stock crank and rods. depends on your budget and goals. with a 383 you will need new crank, rods, pistons, more block machining/clearancing. the money spent on moving up to 383 can be spent on heads.
to be completely honest with you. Im looking not to exceed 400 HP. Looking for about a 375 HP truck that can run 11s NA. I just dont want anything to break so i will be doing the tranny build and rear first and then ill be doing the engine build along with heads and bottom end build. What do you guys think?
