AutoTap Users?

I have recently hooked up Autotap to my 97 Trans Am. My question is when I record a run and log all the information, It doesnt record the fastest. Lets say it only records once every 2-3 seconds. So when I go back and watch my run it doesnt show it real smooth. It will jump from one recording at 3000 to the next recording at 5500 and then the next recording will be at 5400 in the next gear. This really isnt telling me too much since it doesnt record constantly and show me enough info. Does anyone know how to change the settings so it records more often so I can look back at the run in better detail. We are talking that it will only record 4-5 times over a full quater mile run.

How many parameters are you monitoring? The recording rate is directly proportional to the number of parameters you are logging. More parameters = longer update rates. Try logging fewer parameters and see if it works.

The update rate I am getting with 15 parameters is averaging every .6 seconds +/-.

Also check the update rates:

Update Rate

Choose between Fast, Medium and Slow for the update rate.

The Fast rate will update once per update cycle, the Medium Rate will update once every 5 update cycles, and the Slow will update once every 10 update cycles. Every parameter has a chance to be update once each update cycle.

For example, if you have a temperature parameter (slow update), O2 monitoring parameter (fast update), and a RPM parameter (fast update) the O2 and RPM parameter reading will be updated 10 times to the temperature parameter being updated only once.

Autotap is primarily limited to the speed of the ALDL connection. There is only so much bandwidth, so more parameters watched = slower updates for everything.

I watch 15-20 and get updates about ever .8 seconds.

You'd also want to make sure the serial port on your laptop is configured properly, maybe it's having problems keeping up with the data?
