Auto shop still tearing apart car to find problem.

I took my car into the shop 2 weeks ago to have it fixed. It was not starting, just cranking. I went in today to drop off an a/c delete pulley to find my car sitting there torn down to the timing chain cover and the crankshaft exposed. I asked about it and another mechanic said there still tearing it apart and he's happy he don't have to work on it. Last week the main dude said it was making clanging noise in the engine when he tried to start it. What could that be? I don't know what to do, i wish i brought it to a more trustworthy shop. What would u guess is the problem? I know its hard to tell with the little info i gave. While all this is apart what would u guys reccommend like in getting something swapped out to save on later labor costs? All my mods are in the sig.
Thanks

I suggest getting them to get it running if they can, then get it out of there. Car turning over and not starting can only be a few things. Fuel, spark, or timing. They can check that the timing chain hasn't snapped (which I hope is why they have the front of the engine off) by pull the valve covers. Fuel and spark are pretty easy to check for. I'm don't even know of anything clanking IN the engine that would cause it to just crank and crank since those are only your hard rotation assembley.

Did they even scan the engine while trying to start it ?

This may sound stupid but check your fuses. It has gotten me twice now. last time it took almost 2 weeks to get it running and it was just a fuse.
