ATF in t-56, why?
ATF in t-56, why?
I know you are suppose to use ATF in the t-56, but I was wondering why exactly? I have had many people try to rebuke me and tell me not to use ATF and all I can tell them is its what I was told to use. Why do you use ATF?

Why would people rebuke you because you put in what the manual calls for? Sounds like they are the ones needing the rebuke.
The manual says that any other lubricant may damage the blocker ring friction material or its adhesive.
GM is not the only one using ATF in their manual trannies. I would guess that the trannies were designed to use the ATF for less drag which probably increases gas mileage.

I am out on ATF. Regardless of what the manual says. Just like the manual say to replace a craced exhaust manifold with new manifold. I would rather replace it with a header. I blew up three trannys with atf before my buddy talked me into using mtl and I have not blow up a tranny since. first 70k mile killed 3 trannys last 80k is still on the same one plus my car makes much more power then it did before. next example once again my firehawk has 80k on the last tranny. I put 3400 miles on my z06 which is lighter and makes less power and blew it all to ****. it had factory atf.
