ARP 7/16 RR Stud part number??
ARP 7/16 RR Stud part number??
Hey guys,
I am going through the online Summit catalog ordering my new RR's and deceided to go with the 7/16". Anyway, ARP has two listings for 7/16" studs that are alittle different. Here are there description.
ARP-134-7103
Over all stud height: 1.770 in.
* Screw in thread depth: .700 in.
* Adjuster thread depth: .670 in.
* Shank diameter: 7/16 in.
* Base diameter: 7/16 in.
* Not to be used with OEM style self locking nuts.
ARP-100-7101
* Over all stud height: 1.900 in.
* Screw in thread depth: .750 in.
* Adjuster thread depth: 1.000 in.
* Shank diameter: 7/16 in.
* Base diameter: 7/16 in.
* With roller rockers, and girdles
* Not to be used with OEM style self locking nuts.
So, what ones should I get or does it matter? They will be used on LT1 heads w/ guideplates and Harland Sharp 1.65 roller rockers.
I started to just get the 3/8" arms because they clear the stock valve covers. Well, the price is about the same and the 7/16" can clear a spring larger than 1.450" in diameter. Anyone had problems with a "widebody" rocker not clearing the valve cover support even after trimming it?

I have the largest LT1 roller rockers known to man, and 7/16" ARP studs, the 1st part number you listed, 134-7103 and they clear. You just have to figure out how to get the valve cover on and off easily, I've done it about 20 times since I installed those rockers, so it's cake for me. Like many roller rockers, you might have to hammer in the valve cover ridges slightly, so the tops have room to make the valve cover seat right on the head.
Thxs for the reply. The "tops" of what? the rocker arm studs. The only clearance I have heard that is needed is trimming the center supports. This makes it sound like the ARP studs are too long if they hit valve cover.
