Anyone with a ZZ9 cam

Ok i have a ZZ9 for my car and i was wondering what kinda power it will make with the car mostly stock and what the difference that heads, headers and rebuild would make. Should i get a new converter or is the stock one ok. What springs should i get would LT4 springs work? anything else you think i should know.

thanks

we just recently built a LT4 converted 94 vette. we used worked heads and intake and a ZZ9 cam. full exhaust and the other necessary stuff. youll want a better converter. the vette was an A4 we added 3.75 gears to it at the time the engine was apart. the car pulled very hard against the brakes at idle in gear. the new conveter fixed that. it was simply a TCI breakaway. sorry cant remember as i didnt select it. also it dropped into gear hard.

we are still getting the tuning done since the tranny just got rebuild and the converter was added so i cant give you any numbers sorry. Trey

yes big time. the car flies. i really like the LT4 conversion. its expensive, but i feel its the better way. if cheap speed is the goal then no max out and LT1. but for me the LT4 is the choice.

Ive had the zz9 for about a year now. I have a M6 but im sure you willl need a converter. I love the power it makes. Sounds damn nice too. I basiclly just have headers and cam. Check out my best ETs. They were with limited traction. Im sure with slicks i could get it into the 12s. Good luck with the cam.

8.644 in the 1/8 seems a little slow to me i ran a 8.92 with pretty much stock except ram air and exhaust and it was like 102*F out. Ihave beaten cars that run consistant 8.8 and 8.7's on better days. I was hoping with the new cam and headers to pull like an 8.0. What gear are you running?

Do you think 8.0 is out of the question without ding head work?

i hae had my ZZ9 cam fro about a year and i loved it and i also had headers and the springs from TPIS with the cam, and my best time was a 12.9 at 109mph with a 2400 stall, so i would recommend that if you are stock with heads and stuff, becuase it is a little more efficant thent he LT4 hotcam, and has a bigger lift with 1.6's i just sold mine and got a blower cam so we shall see if i love this cam as much as i did with the ZZ9

I dont think my times are too bad for my mods. I dont even have a CAI. Like i said i cant get traction either. You could probably get a 8.0 1/8 mile without headwork but it would be a little work N/A. An 8.0 is probably gunna be a low 12s in the quarter. By the way, the gap between quarter mile times and eight mile times are alot different. In other words, when you do an HP mod you will see a small gap in time in the eighth and alot more in the 1/4.

You can't base your times on his times. Your cars are different and will most likely run different times. If you're almost as fast as him before the cam then you'll me much faster after the cam. It's pretty simple. I have the ZZ409 cam, and I really like it. Not sure what kind of an improvement it made at the track. But I did do a few runs with my Gtech and ran a 13.7@114 after the cam, and a 13.6@107 before the cam.
