Anyone running a mechanical Autometer water temp gauge in a f body? If so where did you run the "bulb" through the firewall? And how did you get the bulb mounted in the head? Would it be easier to an electric water temp? I wanted the gauges to match so I bought both mechanical gauges and realized it was gonna be a PITA to get that bulb ran up front.

ttt I need info on this as well.. the fitting that comes with the gauge is too big to go into the head. the fitting that they give you for the electric one fits great but the one for the mechanical one doesnt fit!

Here are some pics of the autometer mech water temp gauge. The blue fitting is the only one that will fit into the LT1 head. But you can't just install the gauge with the blue fitting cause it will leak. AUtometer gives you the red fitting that you see which has to be installed as well. But unfortunately that fitting is too big.

i had the same gauge and problem, i took a plug out of one of my heads and went to home depot and matched it with one of their brass fittings, then bought the necessary fitting to install the gauge. there is a fitting that adapts the the red fitting to the head.

i ordered an auto meter one from summit but is was the wrong one, they have so many i couldn't tell what size i needed.

awesome, yea I just found the fitting that goes from the RED fitting and converts it back down to the blue sized fitting. Got it at a place where they sell hose products etc.
