throttle problem i think...come inside
when i hit it hard and run it out till about 3500 or 4000 rpms and then i go to shift the car revs out to like 6,xxx and stays there and keeps reving. this has happened twice to me today...i thought it may have been my carpet mat in the way but then i moved it and it still did it...both times i just shut the car off and cut the wheel some and rode the brakes to a stop and played with the gas pedal and started it up a few times and finally got it to back down to a normal idle....
anyone have any ideas?
its a 1996 z28 m6...around 63,000 on it

i dont think it is the pedal though because when i pulled over i pulled the pedal up enough to where it wasnt touching anything and it was still reving up to 6,xxx when i started it with one foot on the clutch and the other on the brake...nothin on the gas...
My bet is on a sticky throttle body. The only way it can get so much air to rev up that much is past the TB. Go clean it and lubricate it. also see if you can put some oil on the linkage too... My humble opinion my lord.
