I called summitt and jegs they both had the new msd opti and are sold out. Someone here has to have ordered one. Just curious if you installed them yet and what are your opinions on it.

 

I was talking to a guy that said advanced auto was able to order them. Haven't heard back from him in a while though, so I don't know if he's gotten it yet. I want to put one in this summer when I do my cam swap. Maybe the parts warehouses are gonna get some in soon. I'm going to check around.

 

Jegs was going to get an order in in Feb. Im sure they are gone by now... but I had a chance for one...

 

They have not been delivered yet. Summit is currently showing a 4/30 ship date for the vented and 7/18 ship date on the unvented. They have been moving the "ship by" dates in two to four week increments since late in 2005.

 

It was less than a month ago the first test units were actually installed on cars at MSDs garage, the "ship by dates" are flat out LIES or at least have been formonths eventually it will be the truth but I wouldn't begin holding my breath till early summer at the earliest.

 

I called both Summitt and Jegs yesterday and they both told me they did have the msd opti's in stock and have sold out on them. Summitt said they will have more in 2 weeks and jegs said longer.

 

I wish they would let us pre-order them instead of paying in full right away and having to wait for them...

 

I'm not saying this is the case here, but having worked retail -anytime we were asked if we had gotten a hot new item into stock we were told to always say that "we are sold out and should be getting them back in stock soon".

We were told to NEVER admit we hadn't gotten a new item.

 

Well MSD is in El Paso and I could get ahold of a few of them. One of the techs said that he could get me a vented msd billet opti for $350. So Im going to get one and install in about a week.

 

MSD has not even released any yet so it seems everyone just likes to talk the talk like normal. Just call MSD and ask them when it is coming out. Everytime I have called they state it is not you yet and their release date is not set.

Show me some pics of it in your hand and then I might believe you. Summit and jegs just want to have a possible sale but they could tell the truth what is going on about it.

 

I just spoke to victor at MSD, and he said the opti will not be released
till late may or middle of june.

 

If it is anything like their cap/rotor kit, then it is safe to say that we can anticipate the Opti release to be further away then June.

 

MSD and Weld are some of the worst comanies to deal with in terms of release dates or getting a truthful fact out of them. Also why let summit and jegs take orders on a product that they know will not be sold anytime soon all it does is give them a bad rap from potential buyers.

SEMA 2005 award winner boo hoo means nothing if the product is not in the hands of the buyers. More like 2006 possible winner.

Granted it is nice to know they are making a piece for the dinosaur LT1 but just release it properly.
