anyone not running a windage tray?

The shop that built my motor said the tray wouldn't clear the crank and rods and that it should be fine without one. Is it normal to not run windage trays on stroked lt1's???

Nu Tek most likely gave you a better oil pan with one in it.....

Unless you want to uncover the oil pump at high RPM run a windage tray. That or loose a bearing.

Re: anyone not running a windage tray?

I'm just finishing up assembling my 383 stroker too, and the 4-bolt conversion that came with the short block didn't have any provision (extended studs) to install the original windage tray. The shop that did the short block also told me that the windage tray wouldn't clear the rods and that they have run them without the trays for years without problems. I would just as soon use a tray, if I could find one that will work. Does anybody know of one, or of an aftermarket oil pan that has one which will work with a stroked motor?

The Canton Pan comes with a internal tray in the pan.

Still blows my mind how places can run motors without one.
