I’ve got a 1994 z28 and I’m finishing up my engine rebuild and I have pretty much all of the coolant and wiring hooked up now but I can’t figure out where this hose off of the radiator goes. It’s off of a hard line third down from the cap on the radiator. I got underneath the car and didn’t see an obvious spot where it went. Does anyone know where this goes?

 

Appears to be the radiator overflow hose from the very top connection on the radiator fill neck to the coolant reservoir (which appears to be missing). Part#27 in this diagram:

Alternatively if it’s connected to the lower nipple on the radiator, just above the level sensor, could be the return line from the steam pipe originating at the rear of each head, part #4

 

The hose I’m talking about is the little steel one below the other two, the second one down is to the steam vent on the back of the heads and the top is to the coolant reservoir. It looks like it just hangs down but that can’t be right, right?

 

If there's a third connection and it’s not shown on the diagram from the factory service manual, appears someone has added it. No idea why. My 94 only had the two connections you described, as shown on the diagram.

 

Huh, odd, I guess I’ll just plug it and see if any problems arise.

 

Actually, I think it connects to one of the trans lines for the trans cooler in the radiator. I don’t know how I missed that.
