well, I have bowtie (chevy) ones that are aluminum. How much grinding is nessisary to get them to fit? Im not affraid to grind some, but will they still be strong enough after the "massaging?"

It's one of those things where you have to test fit/grind, test fit/grind, and so on, until everything's out of the way. I really don't know how much has to be removed for different rockers.

As for the strength, that won't be a problem. The valve cover bolts don't call for much torque and you'll be left with plenty of support material in there.

Re: anyone have these valve covers?

ok cool. thanks. This car has been nothing but modification after modification. I don't mind, I feel like I am becoming part of the car as I have done so much with it, and spent so much time modding it. lol.
thanks again!

Re: anyone have these valve covers?

You could also go this route and use these:

Change from centerbolt to perimeter bolt covers, and the sky's the limit as far as choice is concerned. Get some chrome tall covers and rocker clearance and polishing is no longer an issue.

That link posted above is for adaptors. Put those on, then you can put perimeter style covers on top of them...

I wouldn't think that would be a good idea either... what would be wrong with just using the center bolt style? That way you have a place to run your wires far away from the hungry headers that love to eat little wires?

90 dollars plus shipping
that makes me want to
those cute little adapters don't make me go faster... I would much rather spend the same money and get the centerbolt covers, so they work great with the otvc wires. Wouldn't you think so??

I have polished short Moroso covers that required no changes for Pro Mags. But then neither did my stock LT1 covers which are identical to the LT4 covers pictured above. Some people remove the drip tabs but that's usually only necessary for some of the "clunkier" aluminum rockers. Bear in mind I'm only running .525" total lift.

Seems to me that the burnt plug wire issue was solved LOOOONG before centerbolt valve covers were introduced...

And the polished valve covers you're looking at will?

If the ONLY reason you're justifying buying these things is for better rocker clearance, save yourself the expense of buying valve covers at all and just grind your stock ones.

Also, when you come to a forum like this asking for help, it's a good idea not to step on the toes of the people who try to help you.

Re: anyone have these valve covers?

are you telling me not to step on toes? I just said the adapter was more many than just the centerbolt valve covers, so why waste the money? They stated an opinion, I stated one back.. is my opinion not worth anything? Well whatever, I wasn't trying to **** anyone off, just replied to a suggestion. No harm intended.. Its all good.

Re: anyone have these valve covers?

has anyone tried clear coating the valve covers before they installed them? Does it last? A couple people mentioned it was a PITA to keep them shinny and clean. Any opinions?

Re: anyone have these valve covers?

This is odd. I also run a set of LT4 valve covers that came off of a vette. Picked them up in mint condition with all the bolts and everything from a guy at a swap meet for $25. I didnt have to make any modifications to them to make them fit with my comp cams pro mag 1.6 rocker arms.
