anyone have problems with rear main seal adapter not lining up?

Just pulled out the old clutch as I am installing a new mcleod street twin. I noticed the rear main was leaking, so I got a new seal and installed it. Problem is, after it is installed, the outside lip of the seal doesn't contact the crank from about the 10 oclock position to the 4 oclock position. It is just a touch off of the crank. I know this is only the dust boot portion of the seal, but it still isn't right.

So, anyone else experience this problem? Im gonna atempt to adjust it a bit, but Im affraid I wont be able to get it to move enough...

What did you do if you had this problem?

I have had the block align honed, but it was at a reputable machine shop, so I dont think that is the problem. I think the tolerance of the adapter and the block just allows it to sit incorectly.

Gonna atempt to adjust it today. Let me know your thoughts/opinions!

Cody

mine went on straight and looked just like the one on shbox. if the crank is straight and the seal housing is then it doesnt make sence.

Mine went on straight, but once in the housing then the problem developed.

Im gonna see if there is play in that housing/adapter to see if I can scootch it down a little bit... but we shall see.

Yeah, I work for a GM dealership, so with my discount I just bought a GM rear main seal. The adapter is still the stock one as well.
