Why run a qt over??? All your going to do is dip your crank, froth that oil and push some out your seals. Stick with the stock amount of oil that is all you need, unless you are running a larger pan.

Well... I did it because.. if I were to run a road coarse.. with a stock pan.. in long sweepers..which this auto-x course actually had. I didn't want to risk starving the pump.

Ahhh, makes sense. I run a canton with baffles in the pan to keep that from happening.

yeah if the crank is getting dipped in the oil then your actually loosing hp from windage , thats why u should run a crank scraper and windage tray , the stock lt1's are supposed to come with a factory windage tray, if u plan on auto xing or road coursing quite a bit i guess i would look into getting a canton road race pan with 7 qt capacity with baffles and add a crank scraper to the pan, there very cheap

Using "pocket dyno" on the Iphone (before you flame me.. its is extremely accurate.. do some research) I ran 13.42 at 110 mph. This was at 42 degrees, on street tires.. remote public road. I also ran 13.46 at 113mph. 2.39 60' 0 to 60 in 5.02 seconds.. I only did those two runs.. with more practice.. on good tires.. on a actual drag strip I could do quite a bit better.

Not bad numbers at all right? I'd say I can keep running this motor.

That's why they make a road course oil pan, to prevent that from happening. Stop running a quart over. Like others have said you're causing more problems than good. When the crank whips through the oil like that, you end up aerating the oil which gets pumped through the oil system and bearings. The air "diluted" in the oil will quickly take its toll on the engine bearings. Not to mention the increase in crankcase pressure will wear many seals, including the valve seals (which is likely the scenario in your case).
