Anyone ever modify the Ypipe where it connects to th eheader?
Im trying to find out if anyone has ever modified the ypipe where it connects to the header on the passenger side? I have a 96 with MACs and the passenger side will not stay tight. I had read somewhere of someone making 3 small cuts into the ypipe where it connects so that it would expand a little more and take in the header better???? Has anyone ever even had this same problem and has anyone ever did any modifying to fix this? Any help would be appreciated because I have to tighten this thing about once a month
Thanks,
Rich

Does your passenger cat bang on the conrtrol arm? did you use stock cats or the replacement from MAC??

I'm sorry man I was at work!! Yes mine bangs like crazy too. The only thing I've done is try and keep it tight against the arm; but tomorrow I'm going to cut the "lip" of the control arm off in hopes of eliminating the banging!! IT drives me absolutley crazy from 1600 rpms until 2200 when it stops banging. It's hard to eliminate because when it's cold it's worse and when it's hot it doesn't do it. On monday I am contacting MAC and find out in more depth what the problem is!!

This is what I did this weekend; I loosened all the bolts to the drivers pipe. I then dropped it down to be flush with the control arm. I then used some solid washers and some red loctite and bolted everything down real tight. The problem has been solved!! It was a real pain to get it all lined up as well but the finished product no longer bothers me!!

Hey grygst, I do appreciate you letting me know your progress but we had different problems. My problem was that where the ypipe connects to the header, it keeps coming loose. But again I appreciate the help.
