Question Anyone ever had oil ring failure around 60K?

My car is burning oil. I haven't had time to really look into it with school and what not, but it loses about a quart every 500 miles, and it might be burning it on acceleration, which usually means rings. I still have to do a leakdown test to be sure, but this is definitely a possibility.

A friend of mine pointed out that LT1s can wear out the oil rings relatively early. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm ok with tearing into the motor to fix it... but I just wanted to see who's experienced this issue.

Check for leaks and check the valve seals before ya go to rippin and tearin.
Unless its been run hot the rings are usually OK to 100,000+ miles.

stock bottom end is pretty strong....id say check compression...log them...and check and see if any are out of whack...most likely is valve seals...which is a much easier and cheaper fix...also make sure you dont have much of an oil leak anywhere
lt1 can live to 267,000 miles and beyond...
