anyone done an LT1 swap with this rad setup?
anyone done an LT1 swap with this rad setup?
Trying to setup my radiator/cooling fan. I swapped an LT1 into an '89 Camaro that had a V6. The 89 IROC rad setup bolts in better than the LT1 rad setup, so I went with that.
Has anyone done a swap and used this setup? If so, what lower rad hose works best, and can you use the single cooling fan from the '89 setup? It also bolts right in so I prefer going that route if possible.
P.S. lower rad hose from Camaro LT1 ('93-'97) does not work. The hose diameter is too small for the 89 radiator.
Thanks!

upper hose from a 4th gen LT1 works.. Lower hose from an LT1 vette works.. For mine I run the fourth gen upper and a flexible metal hose for the lower.
My radiator is a 31x19 griffen universal (drops right in) with a 6an fitting welded to it for the steam return off the heads.
don't know about the fans, since I had a carbed 82 I ended up going with a flex-a-lite dual electric setup.
Go to thirdgen.org and you can find the same info plus more about swapping 4th gen motors into a 3rd gen.

i know the 3.4l cars has a single fan, but i would imagine all LT1 cars had 2 fans since sitting in traffic for 10 minutes or so will raise temps enough to cut the 2nd fan on.....
