Good question 95CamaroZ-28. Will the poly mount work? Where do you get a solid tranny mount?

Thanks, I think I have my next cheap project.

They are cheap I would get the solid rear as well. I am going to a custom set of solid fronts i love my solids though. You can always sell your poly trany mount and get a solid for less

Can anyone further on this point? This is the first time ive heard this stated.... and quite frankly a solid trans mount doesnt sound to appealing after hearing/feeling a polly over stock...

It says on Moroso's site and if you contact them they will say the same thing that they recomend a solid trany mount. The reason i was told is the twisting of the drivetrain will all get put into the trany, whether it be the tail shaft or the bellhousing.

From Moroso's website
NOTE: Solid Transmission Mounts must be used in conjunction with Solid Motor Mounts to prevent breakage of engine block and transmission case due to torsional stress.

For you guys with the solid tranny mount...how does it compare to stock? to a poly? I haven't rode in anything with a solid tranny mount. A friend of mine has solid motor mounts and a poly tranny mount. I have driven the car and I really didn't notice any annoying vibrations or anything(the car also had true duals so any vibes that I did notice I may have assumed were from the exhaust). My car is going to be a daily driver and I really don't want to have to go back and put poly mounts on b/c I don't like the solid mounts. I have a pretty high resistance to things unless they become annoying while taking a long trip. It's two hours for me to get to school, and I make the trip quite often. I wouldn't really think it would be anything that would annoy me, but like I said I've never been in a car with all solid mounts.

I think I'm going to try the solid mounts this time around. I put in poly mounts last winter, drove the car this summer, and when I pulled the motor a few days ago the poly mounts looked like they had sagged significantly after just 1 season of driving?!? I mean they looked better than my stock ones but they had still sagged... Looks like solid is the way to go, metal don't sag!

Remember that the above number is for use w/ the 3-spd autos, not the stock 4L60E.

The idea of running solid mounts throughout the drivetrain is tempting, especially since my torque arm doesn't mount to the crossmember(Billingsley).

Anyone tried just running a solid motor mount on the drivers side? I just got my motor back in and running, and I'm having some serious probs with the y-pipe hitting a floorbrace under the seat, and my motor torques up so that the header hits my steering knuckle and locks the wheel up under acceleration. I'm beginning to get really pissed. Hoping for some kind of advice here. I don't want that motor to budge. Thanks.

well, i'm going to upgrade to either poly or solid motor mounts.

I know that the stock ones are held on my rivers and need to be drilled out.... what size bolts do I need to buy, to get my new motor mount on? And where can i get 'em? would the prothane poly motor mount from thunderracing.com come with the needed bolts?

Yes, they come with the appropriate bolts/nuts.

I forgot to mention you may want to try solid mounts if you have the *****

I may.

At first, I didnt' want to because I don't want the **** being shaked out of me (my engine runs pretty rough as it is).. but after mr. mook's post, I'm thinking of it more, esp. considering its less flex and torsional stress on the drivetrain..

mmm, ***** to the wall.
