For anyone considering Solid Engine Mounts-

Despite some saying its horid and some saying its not bad i went ahead and used the moroso solid engine mounts with the new engine. And in my personal application a new poly trans mount is more noticable than these.... You cant really tell a difrence between stock and these solid, at least in my setup, so id recomend them to anyone thinking about doing this.

These arent them but this gives you an idea of what im talking about http://store.summitracing.com/global.../mor-62510.jpg
And if anyone wants to know i used part # (MOR-62635)

The other option is poly engine mounts. I couldn't percieve much difference at all between the factory rubber and the very stiff poly engine mounts. The car certainly "feels" more responsive with poly engine and tranny mounts FWIW. It does shake a bit more at idle but it's not terribly noticable, this is with a cam'd car of course.

I would actually recommend the poly (or maybe the solid) mounts with the ES poly tranny mount as it keeps U-joint angles more within reason. Also wise if going through the trouble of installing full length headers to eliminate problems (now or future) of mount sag with the stock rubber pieces.

I don't think I'm brave enough for solid mounts though

So no extra vibration at all? Are you running the 218/230 or 224/236 cam?

TIA!

Not really any extra vibs, for example i had way more vibration with the spohn t/a with stock engine mount than with solid engine mounts and a stock t/a. Or i had more vib with 4.10 gears and stock engine mounts than 3.42 gears and solid engine mounts...

I have something close to the 224/236.

I have been thinking about going with solid mounts when I pull the engine. I think I will give them a try...

if you dont have any motor vibes, the solid mounts wont cause any extra vibratins

if you do have a vibe, the solid mounts will make it 100x worse.

i have used solid motor and tranny mounts for quite a while and wouldnt do it any other way (except a motorplate)

Where did you get your mounts and what does it take for an install without removing the motor?

Thanks

Don't think I'd go with the Moroso's, but the ES mounts would do me just fine.

i put my solids on with the motor out of the car, but when i put poly mounts on the motor i did it with the motor in the car, so theres no reason you shouldnt be able to put the solids on in the car

if you put solid motor mounts on, i would put a solid tranny mount on at the same time. otherwise you will put alot of stress on the motor mounts/block/k-member mounts when the tranny moves up and down, especially if the torque arm is still attached to your tranny

I just ordered the solid mounts today(thanks for the post kmook, I almost forgot about the motor mounts), but didn't think about the tranny mount. Would a poly tranny mount be alright with the solid motor mounts?
