Most people will tell you to go with 3.73s. Judt go with what you want. the 4.10s will be noticalbe over the 3.73s, but you will have traction issues. Just make sure you can stand the gear whine. BTW, I have a friend with 4.56s in a street car ( ) and that thing hauls on acceleration.

Gear whine? I've had 4.10's in mine for 3 years now, and mine don't make ANY noise. Obviously, if they're misinstalled, they'll make noise, though.
Mine cruises @ 60 MPH @ 2300 RPM, in O/D, with 26" tall tires.
I trap 110 MPH, and I'm not on the 6200 shift lite, going through the lights in 3RD gear.
I wouldn't trade my 4.10's for anything.

BTW, this was my daily driver for the first 2 years the 4.10's were in.

Traction? How about 1.73 with a completely stock suspension? Just a set of 26x11.5" M/T ET Streets.

Do you need a tranny cooler to run 4.10's?

Yeah, but how many rears did you go through?

Um..It's still the original 95,000 mile 10 bolt..With the original posi unit. The GM 4.10's are almost 3 years old. It still has all the original bearings in it, also.
You guys don't give the 10 bolt enough credit. It's just like anything else, automotive,...It has to be ASSEMBLED right in order to work properly and last. If you know what you're doing when you set the gears up, a 10 bolt will last quite a while in an automatic car.

I take back my remark, and I have new respect for the 10-bolt!
