What part of the hose assembly is broken? Take a look at Shoe's site and tell me which part is boogered. When my hose burned though by header, I just replaced that part of the hose.

Did the same thing when that plastic part by the w/p broke. Just used hose clamps and barb fittings.

None of it is broken. It was just something I wanted to change, since it's the only hose assembly I've never changed on my car and I wanted to knock it out while I was doing the opti.. I bought the complete OEM hose assembly.

haha heater core replacement was the first thing i did to my car after i bought it 2 years ago. seeing as the hoses had to be cut to free the pieces i had to get a new assembly. wow boy did that suck to put together. thank god for my skinny hands and long fingers, but that could only barely give me enough to touch that screw that held the metal part of the assembly. i ended up putting a six point bolt in place of the stupid allen head bolt. to hold the bolt in place to get it started i taped a thin but stiff and plyable piece of wire on the end which i wrapped around the bolt. that was more difficult for me than even my most recent adventure of pulling my motor out the top. the only thing that was kinda close to as difficult was changing my plugs the first couple times.

I had to pull the starter to get to that bolt you're talking about. Almost rounded the head out of it because it was so rusted in there.

I got the car back together. All this was for an opti change originally. I just changed the cap/rotor. Now the car runs worse than before. I used a Jeg's cap/rotor. I don't want to immediately say that the cap/rotor is bad out of box...

Well, you know what they say..."if it aint broke...." And of course, with the Lt1, the saying is " if it aint broke now, it will be sooner or later"

My buddy and I replaced the heater core in my Z. With motor in place. We had to take everthing apart on that side of the car. Since we had everything apart we went ahead a replaced plugs and wires.

I just checked my wire positions; everything is right. Apparently, whatever was going wrong with the opti may have gotten jarred worse during the cap/rotor change..

Looks like I get to go do it all over again. Going for a complete unit now..

I wasn't talking about the heater core.

I changed mine when I did my headers, just cut the clamps off and use some heater hose. That's what I did and it worked great, no problems so far.

I did those hoses back in the day. Cost like $116 from the stealership at the time. VERY hard to replace!

I looked at for a long time and decided the only way to do it was with the exhaust manifold off. Fortunatly I already had it off for other work. It is still hard to fight it in and out. Good luck.
