Anybody with 4.10s on 10 bolt

Im about to get some 4.10s for my 96 M6, and just wondering what kind of times you guys can get while still having the original rear end in there... and have you broken them yet? thanks,
bill

Broke 2 4.10 rings in a year. Best 60ft. on the track was a 1.997, but I would swear to you that it leaves harder (i.e. low 1.9s, high 1.8s) on the street. 4.10 teeth are waaaaaaaay too thin for those little 10 bolts. If you have the money, I'd highly recommend that you buy a 12 bolt now and save yourself money in the long run. I spent 1500 on new gears and install before I bit the bullet! Plus, with a Moser, you will get the stronger 4.11 gear.

P.S.- My car is only pushing about 400 at the engine!

I ran the times below last year on a stock rear with 4:10's. I was running consisted 1.9x 60's after I got the 4:10's on Nitto's. I do have most of the bolt on mods to help the rear like a stud kit and the stronger cover with supports for what it's worth. Some say it doesn't help any but I made about 30 passes with it last year on the 4:10's with no problems.

Well i definetly dont have themoney for a new rear end, and probably wont be getting one in the future...so far all i have is the mods in my sig and some kelly charger tires...the 4.10s should be fine for that right? my best run was 14.10 at 97mph..we are goign again this saturday if weather permits and im hoping for 13's, thanks again for your input

Yeah, as long as you aren't putting any real traction behind it, you should be fine. Those things just aren't big fans of any kind of heavy shock. Just don't be surprised if you DO happen to break one. It's an associated risk with running 4.10s. I'd still say get 'em. You'll love it!

Don't do it if you expect to drive it everyday. As a second ride it's ok but not the grocery getter. You should wait and do like 12sec says, get a stronger rear.

I ran 4.10's for two seasons before switching over to the 12 bolt. I was runnig low 13's and high 12's with low 1.8's to high 1.7's in the 60'. This was on Hoosier QTP's. I never broke the rear and it was a daily driver. In fact I still have the 10 bolt laying around.

I believe that Grease tried something different with his 10 bolt and his 4.10's...should look him up and send him an email.

Did 15 runs Sunday with the 4.10s,leaving at 1600 rpm and spinning a good bit of the 60ft was still managing 1.85-1.87 short times, even got a 1.834.
Any higher it spun too much and tried pedaling and that didn't work either.
Ran 12.50s all day.
The 9" goes on in 2 weeks, will be noce to 10 bolt til then, want to keep as a spare.
