Any reason to use 7/16" studs on a small cam?

Is there any benefit to running 7/16" studs on a small cam? Max RPM will be 6200 RPM. Cams that I am considering are in the range of the Crane 210/224 up to the Hotcam (218/228).

I know it can't hurt to run the 7/16" stud, but does anyone know if it would make any difference at all?

Rockers will be the 1.6 Comp Cams Pro Magnums, NSA.

I used 7/16 studs under the recommendation from Bret Bauer. His point is, why take the chance of giving up some lift with the deflection of parts, as in 3/8 studs or cheap push rods. My cam is small 222/226 and I'm very pleased for now. But if I go bigger I'll already have the parts to back it up. Hi-tech push rods, ARP 7/16 studs, and 1.6 NSA Comp pro magnums. Spend that little extra for piece of mind, bragging rights, or that little bit extra in performance.

Thanks for the reply.

By the way, how do you like that cam? It's in the size range that I'm looking at.

Did you dyno it?

How is the cam surge, or idle qualities?

Dan, I like the cam very much. I purchased some LE heads a while back and was able to get a Joe O cam later because of this. The cam has no surge with Ion's base tune and has a nice lope to it at 900 RPM. We tried to dyno tune it before he left for vacation but both shops we checked with were booked at the time. So if the weather holds out (no snow, no rain) we'll tune it when he gets back. Joe O. said the car should see at least 360rwhp with my set-up. We'll see. The few times I've gotten on it so far (2/3 throttle) has brought a big smile to my face. Rick
