Ok, lately i've been having this somewhat "pop" when, at idle, i just kinda tap the gas(in park/neutral). It is almost like a small backfire of sorts but comes from the engine bay. It happens immeditely when i hit the gas. BUT it does not happen all the time. On and off. Any suggestions on what may be causing this???....Any help is appreciated!!!! Thanks a bunch.

PS: I noticed this when my fuel pump was starting to go b4 i replaced it. I'm gonna check fuel pressure soon.

Exhuast leak? Does it do it after it's warmed up?

 

It's not an exhaust leak. It is more of a "backfire" type deal. Mainly upon startup.

 

How does the car run in general? Does it seem like it runs fine, or does it feel way down on power? Also, where does the pop sound like it's coming from?

The things I would say are possibilities are:
EGR/AIR
Possibly some kind of problem with the cats
Maybe detonation, but I don't think so
