How long does it take to install.....

..... Poly bushing.

Assuming the control arms are out of the car and are dropped off.

Take out all the stock bushings, and install poly bushings. Also assume that this is a suspension shop with all the experience and presses needed.

Anyone able to give an idea of how labour involved?

If they have the presses and are free to work on your stuff, you should be out within 15-30 minutes no problem. Press in, press out.

Thanks Dr.

Imagine the following

1. remove four upper control arm bushings and sleeves from control arm. Remove rubber bushings - heat up and melt. Replace with poly pushing and reinstall in upper control arm.

2. Remove all four bushings from lower control arm. Again, remove steel sleeves and casing - melting rubber. Clean up metal hard ware - four sets, install poly bushings and replace in control arm.

3. Remove ONE ball joint from a control arm BUT press TWO ball joints into control (don't ask why, its a long story)

I'm guessing maybe an hour and a half. Again this is an experienced shop with all the tools and presses.

I appreciate any feedback especially from someone in the business or who had this exact same thing done to their car.

97TA-WS6-Con,

One problem.......

I'm guessing that since you are in the Auto-x & road race foum , that you intend to do some of this.....

DO NOT INSTALL POLY BUSHINGS for auto-x or road race !!!!

You will end up with binding as the car heels over on the turns. You will be stressing the mount brackets on the chassis & rear-end as well as the bushings.

You should use LCAs with teflon lined rod-ends (the teflon is so they don't rattle). This will free up the rear end to move as it needs to without binding. AND, keep a much tighter reign on everything.

PPC Lower Control Arms & Panhard Bar

Thanks & good luck!

thank you for your response.

I should perhaps point out that I'm referencing the front control arms butnone the less your response has me curious.

In the rear I currently have Hotchkis. My car is basically a daily fdriver with some drag racing and Auto-X for fun.

Would your control arms and panhard be appropriate for a daily driver as well?

Poly bushings in the front a good idea?

Poly in the front is fine.

Yes, the LCAs & PHB are absolutely fine for daily use. I put 100 miles per day on them. I currently have 10,000 miles & 5 Road race days on them .... nice & quiet!
