Any advice???
Any advice???
I have a '94 Camaro Z28 with T-Tops. It has a stock LT-1. Automatic, rebuilt trans. with a slight shift kit. It will squawk the tires between gears when you get on it, but not if you drive sensibly. I have actually had this car squeel the tires at 70 mph when I punched it to pass someone. I am getting ready to change my distributor. Any suggestions??
I have heard this is a pretty tough job, with all of the cramped area spacing. Is there any hidden obsticles or short cuts I should know about? Any make sure to do's, or don't do's?
I will explain the symptoms I used to have, and maybe you can tell me it the distrubitor will fix my problems. I bought the car with a leaky H2O pump that was said to have affected the distributor.
My car always had a very strong 'miss' or vibration throughout the RPM range. It would shake the whole car. It ran very poor in the rain, and the day it quit, it was raining. It would stumble on acceleration, backfire and eventually stop running and not start up again. It backfired as I was starting it and broke the starter. That was in October and I put it away, not running, early for the winter. Now the big cruise is around the corner.
I also could not very often get the car to peel out from a stop. It seemed to lack power, even on the days it ran good. I hear about the power this car should have and actually have only experienced it a few times.
Does all of my symptoms seem like the distrubutor will clear them up?
Thanks for any information or help.

Re: Any advice???
Far as I know MSD makes a cap and rotor kit, only better alternative to the OEM opti is the dynaspark. The original should be good enough. The vented opti is supposed to hold itself better, you might want to check into that. Also replacement vented opti's are easier to find and are less expensive than non-vented opti's.
In order to get to the opti you'll have to take out the water pump and torsional damper, and to get the water pump out you'll have to remove the fans and support assembly...
