Anti Theft System

My car is away in my garage for the winter, and i went out to start it today. I reconnected the battery, hooked everything up properly. Peeled the cover back and opened the door. The lights came on and the beeper started beeping. Got in put foot on clutch, put key in ignition, turned it to on. Dash board and everything lights up ( The radio and clock didnt ) Went to turn it over and it all died. Disconnected and reconnected the battery and did the same thing. Whats the deal here??? I dont have the theft lock code, but atleast thought i would be able to start it

It definitely sounds like the alternator to me.

How old is your battery? Even not connected in the cold weather I believe they can still die out fairly quickly.

Get the battery checked. They can drain even if not connected. This would be the first simple solution to check before assuming the worst.

i thought it would be the battery too. But i got out, disconnected it, and then reconnected it. And everything works fine again untill i try to crank it over. And after you try and crank it over, you cant turn it back to on and get lights, everything dies.

Mine did that before, the exact same thing. I found out it was a bad connection, lol. Check and make sure you are getting the battery connected good.

That's because you are demanding the most power when you try to engage the starter. Your battery is low or you have a poor connection.

sounds like a bad battery to me. Just because it turns on some lights does not mean a thing. It takes a lot more cranking power to turn the motor over. It doesnt sound like the altenator. Take it to a local auto shop. they have stuff that can test the batteries to see if the cells are bad. If they are not, they will recharge it for you in an hour for free.
