Question Another Opti Question

I started to pull everything off today to replace the opti spark. I started reading over the replacement procedure in my manual but it is very vague. What exactly is involved in replacing it? Is it just label the wires, pop the old one off, and put the new one in or is there a lot more to it? BTW it is a vented unit.

If its a vented opti then it can only come off and on in a certain way. Remove wp, crank pulley and then you have it. Just unplug everything connected to it.

Re: Another Opti Question

Sometimes it tricky getting the dowel in the right hole of the opti. After you push the opti into the opening make sure all three mounting flanges are flush with the timing cover before you bolt it down. If one of them is not then the dowel is not in the right hole of the opti.

Very important, the opti mounting flanges will be completely flush if you have it on correctly. Any other way and the car won't run.

Re: Another Opti Question

One more question. I know theres a seal that has a tendancy to leak oil. Mine is leaking. I ordered the Accel opti and i'm still wating for it to get here. Are those pin drive shaft seals the seals that leak or is it a separate one I will need to buy?
