Another one bites the dust

Well, took the camaro out today, sprayed it......(both stages)
Shut er down, popped the hood, and what did I find? Smoke POURING out the damned breather. So i was like...ok, w/e. revved it up, and smoke pouring out the exhaust. So either a) bent valve or something b) bye bye piston ring (using helfire rings), or c) bye bye piston (doubt this is the case)
BTW, the smoke had that lovely "i just spilled oil on my header beacuse im a dumbass" smell to it.

Horror stories like this is why I stay N/A. Looks like its time for a rebuild; the best case is just the heads. I would throw some LE or AI heads on it.

haha, its
mahle 2618 pistons (-26cc)
hellfire rings
4340 h-beams
4340 crank

I am thinking switching to the dark side, and going with a 6.0L lq4. I have two stages on the car, so if i rebuild the lt1, im going to make sure it can handle EVERY ounce of power i can throw at it. It did it fine with a turbo, but i am guessing the rings didn't like the nitrous.

that sounds like a pretty stout bottom end but arent mahle pistons stock. sorry im not shure. ive seen guys melt or crack pistons when somthing in the fuel side of their system fails, like a solenoid or secondary pump or fuel solenoid relay. i would not go thrrough the expense of the 6.0 swap for the cost of the conversion plus building that engine you could build one heck of an lt1, just my .02

my heads are about le1 heads, ported intake, stock TB. the car used to have a 75mm turbo on it running 20PSI, took that just fine. Mahle does make stock pistons, however these pistons are a forged, better material, low compression piston.

i see i was just worried that you were still using a stock style piston. n20 can be really hard on things. pistons and rigs especally. hope you get it back together soon!

what kind of nitrous tuning were you doing? lets hear some details on the tune/setup. rule of thumb is never add another stage without the first one being dead on, or things like this could happen. nitrous is an easy discouragement, it takes alot of knowledge and the application of said knowledge to make it effective and reliable.

well guys, ended up not being a piston/piston valve. started it today, no smoke. checked everything earlier today, had a valve seal not pushed down all the way, changed it out, and everything seems to be fine for now.
