Another madz28 question

Does the 13 RWHP thing only work with the premium gas tune? I ask because my car is my daily driver, and using premium gas all the time would be kinda hard. Is there still gains to be made even if Im using regular gas?

Re: Another madz28 question

You should never use regular gas for an LT1, they require 93 octane all the time.

Re: Another madz28 question

Actually our cars will run just fine on low octane gas, the computer will adjust to compensate. You will lose a little power(some claim improved fuel economy, but I couldn't duplicate that while on a road-trip) but you won't cause any damage.

Most tunes will prevent you from having this option. What the hell, fork up the extra .20/gallon for your baby...

Re: Another madz28 question

I have never put anything other then 94 octane in my car from the day I got it. I did this before and after I got a tune from Ion @ madz28. His tune will definitly wake your car up. I was impressed, definitly go with him.

Re: Another madz28 question

Does he also have a way to accomidate for a high stall, with the no 1-2 shift? I know Brian is familiar with it, because i have talked to him about it, I am wondering if he can fix it too. I'm really undecided on who to have it done, i hear they are both good. And i have to decide in like 2 days, because i am getting the new gears in and need the speedo calibrated.

Re: Another madz28 question

Cheap gas (sub-91 octane) on even a stock tune causes detonation. The higher the octane gas, the more difficult it is to ignite, thus it is able to withstand higher compression without combusting.

LT1's are high performance, high compression engines that require high performance, high octane gas.

My car dosn't seem to care. I run midgrade gas with my stock tune almost exclusively, on a hot summer day at WOT I typically get under 2deg of knock retard.

No...Not really. The EGR only opens during part throttle and is closed during WOT. The main benifit of removing the EGR is that it keeps the intake tract a lot cleaner by keeping the exhaust carbon out of it.
