Another MADz28 Question

Im going to be sending my PCM to madz28 for my speedo to be corrected after my gear install. My question is that while it is there, is there any other programing you guys recommend to be done. My car and mods are in the sig. and I really dont plan on doing any major engine work.

Re: Another MADz28 Question

I would have him change the fan on/off temps. and maybe do a 160 t-stat. Even if you have the stock t-stat and dont want to change it you can still have him change the temps so they come on sooner. Thats about all i can think of.

Re: Another MADz28 Question

Yep, I'd also recommend a 160* thermostat. Besides that, if you run premium gas, the "powertune" is another thing you can get (you can get it for non premium gas as well but the HP gain will be a little less) and I can also disable your skip shift light.

Just curious, have you actually documented on the dyno the increase you get with this, have you done a before and after?

Yes, of course. There are a few before and after dyno runs on my customers' cars page and a few members (like Red96lt1) on here who have before and after numbers as well.

Re: Another MADz28 Question

So what your saying is that you could give me the "powertune" for say 94 octane to give me a bit more power for the track if I fill up before I race. Then it would still be 87-89 octane friendly for my daily commute back and forth to work?

Re: Another MADz28 Question

No, it doesn't work that way. If you don't run premium all the time, then it will be a different tune. You will still gain some HP, but not as much as if you ran premium all the time. Probably around 7-8 RWHP with non premium.

I re-read my above post and it kind of sounded like i was calling you out, i didnt mean for it to come across that way and i apoligize if you interpreted it that way.

I was just curious what the gain is on a stock car, nothing else being changed. Its not that i didnt beleive there was a gain, just wondering how much of one.

Re: Another MADz28 Question

One more question, I am also planning on blocking the EGR passages. Would you recommend disableing the EGR codes also?

Re: Another MADz28 Question

No problem, I didn't take it that way.

There are some cars that run crazy rich and they will gain as much as 21-22 RWHP like this person's:

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/366214/8

He also gained 34 RWTQ I beleive.

Red96lt1 also gained 20 RWHP.

Others don't run as rich and they will gain less, but provided your car is running perfect (ie good plugs, wires, opti, etc), I guarantee a gain of 13 RWHP.

I will be at the track for the first time this weekend since my cam install and your tuning. Really anxious to see how it runs. The car really feels strong and drives like its stock, i couldnt be happier with your tuning.

Yes, I will disable them for you and that won't hurt anything if you decide to do it later or not block it at all.

jchevy,
that's a nice coincidence. I'm also taking mine to the track this weekend, first time after the cam install. I just hope the tranny won't give up on me.
