Another LT1 running problem
Another LT1 running problem
Car ran fine. Number 5 injector had a weird noise to it (sounded like an airless paint sprayer) so I drove it easy thinkning I maxed it out and fried it. Which didn't seem right because I don't have that much power lol. So I took the coils off (delteq) and checked everything: coils, wiring, module, plug wires. Number 5 and 7 had oil in the connection at the plug from a valve cover leak that is now resolved, but now the car won't run smoothly. I cleaned out the wire connection at the plug and the connections on the bottom of the coil. Also checked the resistance of all the injectors. All checked out at 11.6 straight across the board. So i'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
if the delteq failed it would throw a code. OBD1 wont throw a code for miss fire.. and that's what it's doing. I just don't see how when everything is plugged in... and all my vacuum hoses are fine. It just all of a sudden up and quit
Ok so I was checking power from PCM to injector and every injector had power but 5. So i was going to start digging around but I checkec the injector fuse first and it was blown. So I go grab some new fuses and it still didn't solve the problem... I'm stmped..
The PCM doesn't supply power to the injectors. Key-on constant power is supplied from fuse #9 and #10 (under hood) to the pink wire on each injector connector. The PCM provides the ground. To check the ground, you would need a 'noid light. But if the electrical circuit on any injector was faulty, you would be getting DTC 18.
Each injector is grounded independantly. The 12V power is supplied by fuse #9 to 1/4/6/7, and from #10 to 2/3/5/8. Shoebox has all the PCM wiring diagrams for the 95 LT1 on his website. That will provide a much more reliable source of info than a Haynes or a Chiltons manual.

Sheet "pcm3" has the injectors on it.

So far, all you have done is check the electrical side of the injectors. What it there is a mechanical fault in the ball lifting off the seat, or dirt in the inector? Can't pick that up with an electrical check. If #5 is still making noises, borrow a replacement and swap it out.

when I first finished the project I forgot to put on a few injector clips(metal retainer) and they came loose while i was driving and made the car run like crap obviously. The feeling the car had then with it not running on all cylinders is how it is now but I can't find anything wrong..
It primes fine
All the injectors checked out at 11.2ohms
All spark plug wire connections are fine
it's getting air.
Any other checks???
help is appreciated....

Without the clips, the injectors nearly fell out of the rails, causing the engine to run poorly??? Was it actually leaking fuel? Many people run without the clips with no problems, particularly those running the FMS and SVO injectors, that don't have the groove for the clip in the right place.
well you may have a vaccum leak somewhere on the manifold. with it running, spray starting fluid around the intake manifold and listen if the motor reacts to where you are spraying.
just a thought

and to red 95 z28's reply I just did a gasket change and it ran fine. it's throwing no codes either :/
