Another KS/Drain Plug Thread

Total Newb, ive searched that i should acquire a toggle extension (3/8) and the drain plug either takes a 14mm or a 9/16 to get out, i was under the car for 2 hours today and only managed to drain the radiator.

About the KS, does anyone know what size socket goes around the front tip(assuming thats how you get it off) Ive read on Shoboxs site that its screwed in, there was no way of unscrewing it by hand.

Also the KS is kinda slippery i believe due to coolant, can anyone provide info on this.

Thanks for the help

The knock sensor is also the block drain plug on the passenger side. If it leaks or is damaged, it wouldn't be unusual to find it coated with coolant.

What are you trying to do? Do you have a coolant leak you are trying to track down, flushing the system or just draining the block?

The knock sensor can be a little troublesome to get out- there isn't much of a moulding for a socket on it. I have had better luck with a large pair of vice-grips taking it out- esp if its still the OEM sensor.

Draining the block, I got the ks out, however i managed to round off the drain plug. My head gasket blew and it might be a few weeks before i can get the parts to change it, so some members on tech advised me to drain the radiator and block, idle for 10-15 secs a few times to get the coolant out of the cylinders, pull the plugs and spray some fogging oil in there to prevent damage
