So the only new thing you have since the last dyno is a cam? I would guess you will get 25 to 30 rwhp out of the cam, tuned of course.... So you ported your heads before you got a cam and still only put down 302rwhp? Must have been a mild port or just a bowl clean then....

Re: Another guess my dyno #' thread

They were already ported before the cam, and its definatly a full port job. Who knows why it only put out 303rwhp, mabey the stock lifters were being overwhelmed by the dual valve springs on it? I put on Comp R lifters, and they are ALOT quieter than the stockers. Either that, or its all it had in it.

LOL...I only made 300 RWHP with a car with a CC305 and ported heads. Before everone starts laughing...The car runs 12.0 with that 300 HP...LOL We're guessing it's losing alot of RWHP through the 9.5" non lockup 3800 stall converter.

Ah well if its a full port job then i would expect more numbers out of it.... Just out of curiosity, what are the numbers on that crane?

Yeah thats pretty similar to my hotcam and i gained about 35 rwhp from that. SO... that plus ported heads SHOULD net you more in theory.... in theory...

I am sorry, there is no way that you could have decent heads and still be putting out 300 hp.... I have a cc305 and stock heads and are putting out more than you....therefore, I think something is a lil fishy in those heads.

Thats because thats with the stock cam. Ported heads shouldn't gain that much with a tiney cam in the car. Hell even the 210/224 is pretty small, if I knew my heads were already ported, I woulda went bigger on the cam.

i put down 290 stock head stock cam lots of bolt ons in 80 degree heat so i would agree with smokindastangs that something is definately not right. if the heads are really ported combined with your other mods i would think you would have higher rwhp numbers imho. throw in the cc305 and you should be in the 350 rwhp ballpark.

Re: Another guess my dyno #' thread

322.15 RWHP 327.73 RWTQ
A/F was mid-low 12's across the board, so I'm hoping to pick up some more power once I get it re-tuned. Hopefully 330+.

Re: Another guess my dyno #' thread

i don't wanna beat a dead horse but w/ those numbers it sounds like your head work is closer to a polish than a good porting job....You should be making some nice hp w/ a cam, heads, and LT's... either that or your setup is completely starved for fuel (which would be reflected in your A/f ratio)

Re: Another guess my dyno #' thread

Yeah i am going to have to go ahead and say the culprit is the heads.... Just because they are ported.... Doesnt mean they are ported CORRECTLY.... I have heard of people not gaining any power from unproperly ported heads and sometimes even losing power. Hate to say it but i think you are in that catagory... Maybe some new heads?? Good luck man.

Re: Another guess my dyno #' thread

Are you running a stall converter? Read back to my thread from earlier... Before you let people discourage you about the port job on the heads, keep one thing in mind. We don't race dynoes! If I had dynoed my car after sinking almost $5000 in heads, a cam, valvetrain, headers, injectors, t-body, stall, etc. and seen I had only gained 32 RWHP from my stock readings of 268, I would've looked for everywhere to point a finger I could think of.
My heads flowed 271 CFM on a flow bench when they were done...Yet the car ONLY makes 300 RWHP. The important numbers are timeslips I've got a glovebox full of 12.0 timeslips from before and after I dynoed 300 HP. According to my math, that 32 HP got me .8 in the quarter.
How does 300 HP run 12.0's? I have yet to figure it out. This is a stock suspension, 3448#, stock bottom end car. I can assure you I've outran cars boasting ALOT higher dyno numbers.
