ANOTHER dual setup... DYI > you (pics + video)
ANOTHER dual setup... DIY > you (pics + video)
Welded up my own system...cost = $210
-Jeg's 2.5" Universal X-pipe kit
-3" to 2.5" flanged reducers
-2.5" turndowns
-2.5" Dynomax Bullets (12" long)
Took about 4 hours...my friend Tom and I did it.
Basically, we fitted all the pipes in place the way I wanted them, tacked everything (with the reducers bolted to the collector flanges so I KNOW they will line up, resulting in no leaks), welded hangers in place, took it off, and welded it up.
No interior drone, no rattles, no leaks, it's NOT excessively loud. I can have a conversation with my passenger at 3-4k RPMs without a problem. I guess angling the turndowns the way I did really helps. This is alot quieter than a cutout is....and has an awesome tone to it.
The welds aren't very pretty since we're n00bs, but they work.

Re: ANOTHER dual setup... DYI > you (pics + video)
I have the EXACT same set-up EXCEPT, I used summit x-pipe and I stole injuneers idea (well I listened to him
) and turned the turn downs IN instead of out so the would not blow as much dirt on the sides of the car. Mine has worked perfect so far and I love it. only thing that scrapes on mine is the header flanges every once in awhile.
**EDIT** If you run slower you might want to look for knock retard, I don't know if you're running a LT4 KM but if you're not you might want to.

Wow, that looks really good! Now you have me thinking about sending my hooker Y-pipe back to Summit and exchanging for the true dual parts
Has anyone switched from a catback to this sort of setup and seen any gains?

Nice exhaust setup it sounds awsome too.

I need to qualify this by saying I have stock exhaust manifolds, and
it's a dual factory cat car, but by switching from a 3" cat back system
using a flowmaster 80 series to a 2.5" true dual system, I gained 12/8
rwhp/rwtq. Granted some of this came from the improved catalytics
and the mandrel bends, but considering how much more pipe length
there is in an over the axle true dual system, it's a nice improvement.
Thanks Jameslt1TA for the props. I did it for the sound anyway, so
the gain is just frosting on the cake.

Thanks all
I gotta head to the track as soon as they get power back down there...
I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Plus, knowing I did it myself with a friend in my own garage makes me feel awesome
